Skin conditions can be incredibly difficult to live with, especially if they are noticeable to others and cause discomfort. One of the dreadful chronic skin disease that mostly leaves the patients with a stigma is PSORIASIS .
Psoriasis is a long-lasting auto-immune disease characterized by patches of abnormal skin. These skin patches are typically red , itchy, scaly , flaky and at times forms crusty patches of skin covered with silvery scales. They may vary in severity and normally appear on the elbows , knees , scalp and lower back and at times to complete body coverage.
Psoriasis is caused by an acceleration of skin cell turnover whereby skin cells would be able to multiply up to 10 times faster than normal. Although psoriasis is just a minor irritation for some people, it can have a significant impact on quality of life for those more severely affected. People who suffer from psoriasis know that this uncomfortable and at times disfiguring skin disease can be difficult and frustrating to treat. The condition comes and goes in cycles of remissions and flare-ups over a lifetime. Ultimately there is no cure for psoriasis; however there are medications and other therapies that can help to clear up the patches of red, scaly, thickened skin.
Many products on the market are aimed at reducing the symptoms of psoriatic skin complaints. Topical treatments, medications applied to the skin, are usually the first line of defense in treating psoriasis. Recently, Argan Oil had captured the interest as to alleviate many skin disorders affects including psoriasis. Argan oil had been proven to be excellent at moisturizing the skin and making it much softer .Argan oil is rich with properties such as soothing, nourishing, anti inflammatory, antiseptic and protecting qualities which works splendidly well for psoriasis.
There are few primary forms of psoriasis relief with Argan oil.
The natural fatty acids, namely Omega 3 and 9, and carotenoids work to balance out the skin’s natural moisture levels. This benefits psoriasis patients by reducing the dryness of the skin as dry skin can often make psoriasis worse. These fatty acids are also able to control the production of sebum, which can help to reduce greasy skin.
Vitamin E is a powerful antioxidant naturally found in pure argan oil. This ingredient helps to reduce the inflammation caused by psoriasis. There will be instant relief from pain and itchiness after applying the oil on the skin. Vitamin E also naturally decreases the redness of psoriasis, making the skin patches less noticeable.
Argan oil contains high levels of antioxidants which will help skin cells to oxygenate themselves and provides protection against harmful free radicals. Thus by protecting the skin from the outside and nourishing it from the inside, it will reflect immediate effect as soon as after applying.
Argan oil actually encourages the renewal of skin cells, which will act as a natural exfoliant. This lack of natural exfoliation can cause skin cells to build up on the surface of the skin which causes flakes. So if the psoriasis patients have got skin that is very sensitive and unable to use an exfoliant, this oil is perfect.
In order to harness the power of Argan oil, it is essential to use it every day, even when they are no flare-ups. The oil should be massaged into the skin patches twice a day to retain the maximum moisturizing and healing benefits.
Here are a few tips to a daily routine to help psoriasis:
1. Cleanse the area with a mild natural soap, free of dyes and fragrances
2. Pat dry—do not rub the skin aggressively
3. Apply one to two drops of argan oil
4. Massage into the affected area in circles until completely absorbed
Pure argan oil can also help treat psoriasis on the scalp when these directions are followed:
1. Place two to three drops of argan oil onto the scalp, or until you have enough to cover the area
2. Gently massage into small circles
3. Place a shower cap on your head, or wrap a towel around it
4. Leave product in overnight for extra moisture
5. Rinse out with a mild shampoo in the morning
Conventional treatments for psoriasis often include a combination of oral medications, topical creams and light therapy. Although such methods often promise treatment for psoriasis, they can actually exacerbate the problem. Anything placed on the body is ultimately absorbed into the skin and through the bloodstream in small traces. If there is a choice, why not choose a natural product that can’t cause your body harm? Pure argan oil does not come with the health repercussions that conventional creams do.Psoriasis can be well controlled with argan oil, together with certain lifestyle modifications. A good rest, increased fluid intake, low-fat balanced diet and reduced alcohol consumption can help to improve the skin conditions of psoriasis patients. It can also help to know you’re not alone. Other people are living full lives with psoriasis every day. Most importantly, don’t give up hope, and keep working to find the right solutions for you.
